I recently sat down with myself to learn more ABOUT ME. Here’s an unedited transcript from our conversation.
ME: Hello? Can you hear me?
ALSO ME: You’re a tad overdressed.
ME: I wanted to look professional.
ALSO ME: So… you used to work in finance?
ME: Thank you for that question. (clears throat) Spreadsheets will always have a place in my heart. But copywriting is where I belong. A passion for storytelling led me to portfolio school. My experience in client service gave me a strategic mindset. I want to use my creative instincts to solve problems and—
ALSO ME: (interrupting) We get it. What do you do outside of work?
ME: I follow my curiosity. I dive deep into subjects, then forget about them the next day. I’m into theatre, but mostly just watch TV. I spend way too much time scraping the corners of the internet for music and comedy. I’m fun once you get to know me.
ALSO ME: Any strengths to speak of?
ME: I’m a natural collaborator. I think good writers are great listeners. I live for the details. Let’s see… what else?
(silence)
ME: I’m dedicated to the craft. My favorite work feels like an inside joke with the audience. Oh, and I do all my own stunts.
ALSO ME: But why hire you?
ME: I ran the numbers. My creative net worth is positive. That means instant ROI.
ALSO ME: Very impressive. Final thoughts?
ME: I’ve learned that the best ideas often come from unexpected places. Would you agree?
ALSO ME: Of course I agree. I’m you.
ME: Right. So, let’s go make something unexpected.
ALSO ME: This concludes our interview. I love you.
ME: Okay thanks goodbye.
